What We Do

The Sherman Park Northwest Interfaith Neighborhood Outreach office helps older adults in the neighborhood remain living in their own homes in a safe and dignified manner. By providing direct support to older adults, we help them stay closely connected to and engaged with their communities while leading active, independent lives.

The Sherman Park neighborhood site was founded in 1975 and continued until 2010 when it merged with the Northwest site (est. 1989) that bordered the Sherman Park site on its northern edge. Today, Sherman Park Northwest is located at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Campus. The Sherman Park neighborhood is unique. It is known for its beautiful homes and has a strong community organization that advocates for its residents of all ages and races.

Services for Older Adults

(Services offered are based on volunteer availability.)

Who is eligible?
Adults age 60 and up living in Milwaukee County are eligible for our free services. There are no income restrictions.

Volunteers Make the Difference.
We rely on the support of kindhearted volunteers to visit with older adults, provide transportation, shop, help read mail, fill out forms, rake leaves, shovel snow, make minor home repairs and help with other daily tasks, as well as lend a helping hand in the Neighborhood office. As a Neighborhood Outreach volunteer, you will be paired with an older adult whose needs match your schedule and interests, and who lives right in your own neighborhood. You can volunteer as often or as little as you wish.

We could use your help! Become a volunteer.

Sponsoring Congregations
There is no cost for our outreach services, thanks to the generous support of the following sponsors:

Securing our Seniors

Securing our Seniors (SOS) is a program designed to safeguard the homes of disabled adults and older adults. Trained Block Watch members will do an interior and exterior survey to check for security lapses that could allow a criminal to cause harm to or burglarize the home of a senior or disabled resident. If you would like more information about this project, call 414-466-8858.
