Job Training & Preparation
Looking for a new employment opportunity? Interfaith Employment Services can help. We bring wisdom to the workplace by helping older workers secure jobs that provide long-term self-sufficiency in positions that meet your interests, aptitudes, values and economic needs.
Whether you’re currently seeking a new career path or trying to re-enter the workforce, Interfaith gives you the necessary resources to achieve fulfilling employment.
Interfaith Older Adult Programs’ employment services are funded through numerous resources. Many of those funders have specific requirements regarding residency, age, education, finances and other criteria. Therefore, to access our free services, you are required to provide proof of residency and age, and answer other pre-screening questions to determine if you qualify.
Our specialized services include job skill training; resume, interview and job search assistance; and on-the-job training placement opportunities for eligible individuals age 55 and up:
- Mature Worker’s Resource Center (MWRC): Located in the Washington Park Senior Center, MWRC offers workers a user-friendly environment where you have access to educational programs, a computer lab with Internet, and referrals to community resources and potential job openings. Take a look at the calendar for hours of operation and more info.
- Senior Community Service Program (SCSEP): Individuals who meet low-income guidelines can use SCSEP to retool, retrain and re-enter the workforce. Subsidized working opportunities are available at community non-profits and government agencies to help participants develop work history and job skills. Individual counseling, assessment, resume creation, interviewing and job search/job placement assistance are also offered.
